Suzuki Swift has recently been face-lifted and the car now looks more sportier and is built on Suzuki’s heartect platform. With launch of Tiago JTP, it becomes the most affordable turbocharged petrol machine which is offered at 6.39 Lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited already have Baleno RS to offer but the car is priced at 9.82 L. Suzuki needs to respond to this new segment created by Tata before it looses to more affordable Turbocharged petrol engines.
With ZXi variant priced at 7.38 lakhs, Suzuki may think to offer Swift RS similar to Swift Sports which is being offered in European market. Swift Sports is priced somewhere in between 10-15 Lakhs which will definitely make the car expensive than Polo GT TSI which is being currently offered at 10.69 L.
Suzuki may work around with the existing Swift and fit 1.0 L 3 cylinder turbojet booster engine which would produce 101 bhp power and 150Nm of torque. The RS edition would get cosmetics upgrades like redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirts, body graphics and would disc breaks for both front and rear wheels.
The car would also get all black interiors with RS badge. The car may be launched by mid 2019. If Suzuki plans to launch their Swift RS to Indian market then would it steal the show from Tiago JTP or will the Tiago JTP have first mover advantage? Let us wait and watch on how market responds.
