SAIC a major Chinese automobile manufacturer acquired MG (Morris Garages) a British brand in 2008. They plan to debut Indian market next year by launching an SUV next year followed by all electric SUV in 2020. Their SUV will compete with the lights of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Their SUV will be priced somewhere around 15-17 lakhs.
General Motors manufacturing facility of Halol, Gujarat has been taken over by SAIC where MG motors are doing up-gradation work to start production their Car. Initially company plans to invest around 2000 Cr and further infuse anther 5000 Cr over a period of next 6 years.
MG Motors plans to launch one new vehicle every year starting from 2019. MG Motors offers ZS a compact SUV in Thailand which may be launched in India to compete with Creta. The company also offers a slightly expensive GS to compete with Jeep, MG3 a hatchback to compete with Baleno, MG5 and MG6 sedans to compete with Honda City/Ciaz/Verna.
MG Brands are already available in US, UK, Middle-East, Thailand, Australia, New-Zeland, Indonesia, etc.. With launch in India, the company may plan to export from India as well.
Recently their SUV was found testing on Indian roads and spy image of their SUV was captured.
