Fire risk forces BMW to recall 16 lakhs cars worldwide

German luxury car manufacturer BMW will be recalling around 16 lakhs (1.6 million) of their cars due to possible fluid leak which may lead to fire. On tuesday BMW said that the coolant many leak from the car’s exhaust gas re-circulation module and in rare cases may result in fire hazard.

Some of the diesel cars manufactured in 2010 and 2017 is said to have the risk and the owners of the cars would be contacted through dealers for replacement of the defective part.

There were some cases of fire in South Korea post which BMW’s South Korea division had apologized for engine fire. At a press conference BMW Korea Chairman Kim Hyo-joon said:

“For the recent series of fire incidents happened in the country, we sincerely apologize for causing worry and anxiety among people and government authorities.”
