Bajaj is ruling the cruising segment through their Avenger 220 series since long however now Suzuki has decided to compete with it through its all new Suzuki Intruder which was launched in Nov 2017. The bike has won hearts of many through its distinguished styling. Sept 2018, Suzuki announced that it would launch a special variant named Intruder SP. The SP variant has some cosmetics upgrades such as pillion back rest and matte black metallic shade with red accents.
Below are the specifications of Intruder SP variant and Avenger Street 220.
While Bajaj Avenger Street is powered by 220 CC engine, Intruder SP comes with 155 CC Engine. Petrol mill in Avenger produces power of 18.76 hp and generates torque of 17.5 Nm while the engine in Intruder SP produces 14.59 hp of power and generates torque of 14 Nm.
Weight wise, Avenger is 6 Kg heavier than the Intruder and weights 155 Kg while intruder weighs 149 Kg. Fuel tank in Avenger is 13 L where as in Intruder SP it is 11 L. Mileage wise, Intruded gets better fuel economy of around 47 to 54 while Avenger gives mileage of around 35-45. Intruder SP comes with dual disc breaks with dual channel ABS where as ABS variant is yet to be launched however the current avenger gets front disc break and rear drum break.
While Intruder has 17″ wheels for both front and back, Avenger gets 17″ front wheel and 15″ rear wheel. Length wise, avenger is lengthier by 47 mm and width wise it is leaner by 4 mm. Avenger has lower seating height of 725 mm while Intruder has seating height of 740mm. Avenger comes with large wheelbase and both bike get almost similar ground clearance.
Avenger 220 gets 12V 55/60W halogen bulbs while Intruder gets slightly dimmer 12 V 35/35 W bulbs. Intruder gets smart digital instrumentation cluster while Avenger gets normal digital cluster. Intruder is equipped with stylish sharp twin exhaust while Avenger gets single barrel exhaust.
Both bikes are equally good and we are unable to decide which one to choose from. If you are looking for modern styling with slightly better fuel efficiency you can go for the all new Intruder. If you want a classic cruiser with slightly better torque and power then go for Avenger 220.
