Global NCAP a independent car safety body has recently started a campaign #safecarsforindia under which it crash tested over 25+ cars in India at a speed of 65 KM/Hr and the results were shocking. Cars are rated between 0 to 5 stars, 0 being the least and 5 being the highest.
There are 2 ratings, one for adult rating and other is for child rating. In below table we have listed top 5 cars within a budget of 10 Lakhs which are worth buying if safety is of paramount importance while choosing the car.
Considering only top variants come with ABS/EBD, we have mentioned price of top variants only. However it must be noted that now Airbags and ABS is made mandatory across all variants. However some manufacturer provide only driver side airbag in lower variants.
Tata Nexon scored highest safety rating followed by Etios Liva, Volkswagen Polo, Brezza and then Zest. However it must be noted that these crash tests were conducted on cars with dual front airbags and at a speed of 64 KM/Hr.
When it comes to child safety only Polo and Nexon managed to get 3 stars where as Brezza, Etios Liva and Zest scored 2 stars.
